I’ve gone here a number of times and have good experiences, but today I had Vanessa and she was amazing. She’s so friendly and it was a nearly pain-free experience. The place in general is also very clean and nicely designed.

I scheduled my first appointment with SugaringNYC and someone called me twenty minutes before the appointment to say the tech had called out and someone called else could see me at 11:30. They open at 9 am and my appointment was at 11 am. I don’t know if this person couldn’t be bothered to call out after 10:30 or they couldn’t be bothered to let me know until then but I was already in Millburn for this appointment and felt they were not respectful of my time.

I am a big fan of Sugaring NYC, since I prefer using a more natural sugaring approach than waxing. Although I’m a regular customer, this was my first time at the Millburn location. Firstly, they did an excellent job accommodating for my slight appointment schedule change. I arrived on time and Keifer was all ready for me. She did an excellent job sugaring and even checked to see if I was missing any patches. She really tidied all the areas up so my skin is nice and smooth! She even gave me recommendations of products to help tame ingrown hairs for parts of the body where I choose to shave. If I have a long break from work, I can easily walk here to schedule my next sugaring appointment.

I usually do not write reviews but for this experience I had too. I went in for a full Brazilian yesterday, and unfortunately my experience was not what I expected. The appointment was scheduled for 25 minutes, but it ended up taking about an hour and 10 minutes. Thankfully I had set the meters for 45 mins and it did run out but I did not receive a ticket. I completely understand that everyone has to train and learn, but I wasn’t informed ahead of time that the technician performing my service was in training. I only realized once the appointment started, especially since another tech had to come in to assist. There was a noticeable difference in technique. When the more experienced technician stepped in for certain areas, the pain was minimal. However, when the trainee was working, the pain was significantly worse, and it felt like she kept going over the same spots multiple times. At one point, the wax was even getting stuck, which made the experience more uncomfortable. After getting home, I noticed there were still patches of hair that were missed. I did ask her to tweeze some areas before leaving, but I didn’t realize how much was left behind until later. It’s now been 24 hours, and I’m still dealing with irritation in one area that was repeatedly worked on. I also have some bruising in my bikini area, which has never happened to me before with this type of service. Overall, I understand the need for training, but I believe clients should be informed beforehand and given the option. The extended time, discomfort, missed spots, and after-effects made this a disappointing experience.
